Eco Emi August 2011 - Pangea Organics

My Eco-Emi box arrived a bit squashed this month, but thankfully nothing inside was destroyed.

These little cotton pouches come in handy - they can be used to store jewelry, makeup, feminine products or cash, or you can use them as a gift bag for small gifts.

Eco-Emi loves giving us lip balms!  This is the THIRD month in a row that Eco-Emi has included lip balms in their box.  And at this point, I am lip-balmed out.  I gave this one away to a friend of mine today.  I can't possibly use up the other two EE lip balms, plus the other Pangea Organics lip balm that I received in my Birchbox a few months ago, PLUS 4 others that I own, including two Eos balms, a Body Shop balm and a Fresh balm. Enter, lip balm fatigue...

I am joining a new gym in September, so I know that this vegan protein powder is going to come in handy when I start lifting weights again.  It is important to consume enough protein when exercising.

Eco-Emi featured Dr. Hauschka body washes last month.  Although I did try them out, I felt that the amount of product wasn't enough for me to be able to make a determination if the body washes were any good or not.

This time around, the samples are larger, so I think I will be able to get a better idea of what exactly the Dr. Hauschka products are all about.

Included were some Organic Chai/Tea samples, including an interesting Green Tea with Spices.

I don't care for Ranch flavored dips or salad dressings, but almost everyone I know does!  I was going to keep this seasoning mix for an end of summer barbecue, but within minutes of me walking away from the table where I had filmed my video, my cat jumped up onto the table, nosed out this packet and started do bite into it and drool all over it as if it was catnip!  Alas! I had to throw out the dip mix and no one got to appreciate it. R.I.P. Ranch Dip.

A friend of mine is really into Acai, so I gave him these vitamin chews.

Another body wash sample, this time from Gabriel Organics.  I really think that these small samples of body wash are completely ineffective and a waste of time.
Gabriel Organics Seaweed Revitalizing Bath & Shower Gel
So this completes my Eco-Emi box for August.  I enjoyed the products, but not as much as I enjoyed the July EE box.  I enjoy getting at least one cosmetic sample along with some skin care, a household product or two, and a food sample.  But this month, no cosmetics and no household product.

If you are interested, visit the Eco-Emi website.  You can sign up for the EE Box for $15 including shipping.  Their website also allows you to purchase full size versions of the samples.

They feature a blog, recipes, and advice on what man is really doing to the environment and to animals.   We can all be better informed and not support companies that add harmful chemicals to products we use, or abuse animals for the sake of cosmetics and household products.

My Journey through Canada

Toronto Skyline
Maid of the Mist Niagara Falls
Last month I was fortunate enough to take a road trip through Ontario and Quebec in Canada.  I filmed my entire trip (see the first video above), and you can follow my journey on my YouTube vlog channel From Sassi Who Lived It

We travelled to Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Toronto, the Toronto Islands, Montréal, Levis, Quebec City,Parc de la Chute-Montmorency and Sherbrooke.  If you ever get the chance, Canada is definitely a must-see country.  The people are friendly, there are modern cities seeped in history, there are stunning natural wonders, and the whole experience is breathtaking!

Here are some memories from this vacation:
Manoir Montmorency
Home Made Spring Rolls

Canadian Candy Apples

Birchbox August 2011: Smashbox

I definitely enjoyed the August Birchbox more than I did the July Cynthia Rowley July Birchbox.

The only perplexing thing is that fact that this Birchbox was themed as "beauty innovations", but I didn't find any of that in my Birchbox!
August 2011 Birchbox
Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
Twistband Hair Tie
Shaveworks The Cool Fix
June Jacobs Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque
I look forward to trying the June Jacobs Papaya mask, as well as the Ouidad hair gel and the Shaveworks soothing lotion.  The hair tie, however, was rather mystifying - nothing innovative or futuristic there.  In fact, it looked rather like some elastic I pulled out of my workout shorts a few weeks ago!

The August 2011 Birchbox:

June Jacobs - Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque
Ouidad - Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel
Shaveworks - The Cool Fix
Smashbox Cosmetics - Photo Finish Foundation Primer
Twistband - Hair Tie

Furla Coin Purse

Furla
I love coin purses, and I use them for almost everything - except coins!

It's been a vicious cycle - I find a coin purse I like - I buy it, and I end up using it to store anything from lipstick to jewelry, and I can never bring myself to put coins in it!  Needless to say, I have quite a collection.
Furla from the Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets
That is, until I visited the Woodbury Common Outlets in New York and discovered this little purse.  It's perfect! At around 3" x 2", the flat, compact shape makes it impossible to use for anything except coins and maybe some receipts.  Finally!

The quality metal YKK zipper will ensure that it lasts for years.
The Furla Coin Purse is perfect for storing just enough coins.
Do you have a favorite coin purse?
